Owston Ferry Landscape Community Project – over halfway through!

Archaeological Project Services with the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire are looking for volunteers to fill up the last remaining sessions of the community landscape archaeology project on the outskirts of Owston Ferry.  This is part of the Isle of Axholme and Hatfield Chase project to help people learn, appreciate and care for the distinctive landscapes found in this area.

Working alongside our specialists at APS, volunteers have been using geophysics, field walking, finds washing and topographic surveys to explore the history and heritage for this area, whilst developing their own archaeological investigation skills.

It has been great to see people both at the start, middle and end of their careers getting involved, whether they are involved in heritage or not.

How do I get involved?

These volunteer spaces are available for everyone over the age of 8 (8-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult), whether you have never even touched trowel, or are an experienced archaeologist.
